Junior Archer Coaching Programme

We are to run some specific coaching sessions aimed at the Juniors. If a Junior or their Parent / Guardian have not received an email to that effect please click on the title of this NEWS item (above), or contact the Secretary by email: Secretary@CrowthorneArchers.org.uk

Dear Junior Archer,

We will be running a structured coaching programme for our Junior archers this year. It will involve a three hour coaching session on each of the following Sunday mornings:-

May 27th
June 17th
July 22nd
August 5th
September 23rd

The sessions will run from 09:00 to 12:00, with a break for refreshments, and there will be lots of one to one coaching support. We will set up a separate coaching area (like we have in the past for beginners courses) and these sessions will only be open to Junior members. There is no charge, but we expect you to try to attend all of the sessions (obviously you might be away on holiday or have other commitments) and to practice the things you learn in between sessions (yes, homework is involved!).

We will not select Juniors because of age, experience or current ability, all we are looking for is people who want to progress, and we especially want Juniors who want to enter more competitions.

The programme will focus on developing technique, but we will also help you find out about external tournaments and help you decide which competitions you would like to enter, and explain how you go about entering. We will make sure you know how to prepare yourself and explain what to expect on the day. Whenever we can we will also try to attend the competitions with you, to help you on the day.

In addition to these sessions, we will also set up a separate coaching area at most Tuesday and Thursday coaching sessions (depending on coaches availability). So the idea is that you can pop over to that area and a coach will help you - but you can come over for a few minutes or for the whole session. This is simply an opportunity to get some more coaching help. These coaching sessions will be open to all members, so are not only for Juniors.

We normally ask parents of Juniors under 13 years old to attend for the whole session, but for these slightly extended sessions that will not be necessary provided parents are happy for one of the coaches to be ‘in loco parentis’.

So, if you would like to attend please reply to this email as soon as you as possible, because we will have to restrict the numbers who attend in order to provide sufficient one to one coaching time for you.
