Development Coaching and Archery Classes

What coaching & development is available for members?

Our coaches aim to help archers as and when needed. That could take the form of a few minutes support in one shooting session, or it might be that you want to agree a programme of coaching support over several weeks. If you need help, please talk it through with Grahame Smith (Coaching Organiser) or one of the coaching team. We aim to provide the following development for our members:-

  • Ad hoc coaching support for any archer on request in club sessions (especially via indoor sessions)
  • Archer award schemes including ‘252’
  • Club competitions
  • Beginners Course

Evening classes on the following topics can also be arranged, although not necessarily in this order:-

  • Arrow and Bow maintenance
  • Selecting and purchasing your first bow
  • Bow tuning and set up Posture, alignment & execution
  • Practical on developing good technique
  • An introduction to mental skills

Why do we offer coaching?

Coaching is an essential part of the sport, whether that is to help beginners to become safe archers, or to help our members increase their enjoyment and participation in the sport. As such we use coaching to introduce people to the sport and our club, and to help archers develop their technique and performance.

Through coaching, archers learn the Archery GB approved shooting method, which is designed to be safe, more effective, and to maintain an archer’s health and well being in the sport.

How much does it cost?

Coaching for members is free, however we do charge non-members for beginners courses.
