Archery Beginners Course

Introduction

Crowthorne Archers are pleased to run Beginners' Courses, which will result in an individual attaining a certification of competency which will enable you to join our club or a club of your choice. All courses are run to GNAS / Archery GB standards. At Crowthorne Archers we train both indoors and outdoors.

During the beginners course you are introduced to two archery techniques, safety at an archery club, scoring and scoring rounds, different types of equipment and tuition on the shooting line is 1:1. The ratio of coaches to candidates is 1:4 or better and during your beginners sessions you are taken as far and as fast as you would like to go – you will never spend as much concentrated time with a coach at any time subsequently in the sport. At the end of the course, following successful completion, you receive a certificate, which is recognised by any local club as having completed a satisfactory GNAS / Archery GB beginners course. We supply all equipment and insurance cover is provided by Archery GB.

Costs

The costs of the 5 session Beginners' Courses are:

Adults £80

Juniors (under 18) £50

Equipment

For the duration of the course, all equipment will be provided by the club, including bows, arrows, targets, etc. All we ask of you is that you wear appropriate clothing for the weather and that you wear stout shoes (no open toed footwear).

At the end of the course, if you become a member of our club, we will be happy to allow you to continue to use the training equipment for up to 6 months or until you purchase your own equipment. Please note that there is no hurry for you to make those purchases - setting up for Archery is not cheap and you need to be sure you are buying the right equipment for what you want to do and achieve. There are many experienced archers at the club who will be more than happy to help in the selection of your next purchases!

Further Coaching ?

A beginners course is just the start and there are coaches at Crowthorne who can work with you once you have decided that it’s time to make further progress at either Junior or Senior level.

If you prefer archery to be a social sport then coaches are on-hand only to give advice if you need it or to help fix your equipment.
